WHY DO YOU NEED A VIRTUAL EMCEE?
Welcome to the world of Zoom, Teams and WebEx. It is a new world and it isn’t going away.
As I write this, not quite 3 months into the COVID crisis, we already have a new phrase in our business language: Zoom Fatigue.
Yes Zoom Fatigue.
It comes from too many video conferences which are basically talking heads that shrink down into a little square when a slide is presented.
We have had the phrase “Death by PowerPoint” for decades in live events, and yet people still get up on stages and present with decks of charts that create an experience somewhere between watching paint dry and having a root canal. Will we learn our lessons better and faster with Zoom Fatigue?
SHAKE IT UP
TV figured out long ago that you have to keep things moving to keep audiences interested. The famous Moses Znaimer at CITY TV in Toronto broke the mould of news when he put the news desks in open spaces and showed the cameras at work while the anchors moved around and even stood up.
Cutting from one talking head to the next with slides in a virtual conference is not enough to keep people’s attention, much less enough to inspire them or change their behaviour. You’re Zooming, they’re on their phones.
That’s where an emcee can help – an outside voice who brings something extra to the virtual conference – humour, perspective, stories, interviews. There are many ways to shake it up. But you have to take a chance and do it.
WHY ME AS YOUR VIRTUAL EMCEE?
My unique offering is a library of almost 100 video stories which I can intersperse through your virtual conference. These stories range from 1 to 4 minutes in length. They’re a mix of inspiring, thought-provoking and funny, and are selected and tailored to your conference’s messages and goals.
I can also interview your executives, customers and/or people to keep things interesting to watch.
I have worked with hundreds of Fortune 500 companies in my career, run my own successful businesses, and acted dozens of times as emcee at live events. As a storyteller, I know how to get the story out of people in a way that keeps attention and engages.
STORIES, STORIES AND MORE STORIES
The best way to keep virtual conferences engaging is to not talk at people, but rather to engage them. And the best way to do that is by integrating stories. Stories are the oldest and stickiest form of human communication. You can tell them orally. You can tell them with video. You can tell them with music.
Need to launch a new strategy? Storify it.
Need to create a new picture of the future? Storify it.
Need to inspire your people? Storify your message.
